Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery

The Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery is the largest center of the visual arts in the Aukštaitija Region of Lithuania. The Gallery’s activities include organizing exhibitions, education, accumulating an art collection, organizing concerts and other events as well as publishing art publications. The Gallery comprises three large units: Art Gallery, Ceramic Art Pavilion and Photography Gallery. Each year, the Gallery hosts nearly 30 solo, group and conceptual exhibitions of different genres, including the representation of local, regional, national and international artists.

The Gallery houses the Collection of chamotte ceramics generated during the Panevėžys International Ceramic Symposiums. The Gallery is organizing Ceramic Symposiums since 1990. The Contemporary Ceramic Collection – the biggest one in the Eastern Europe – constitutes close to 700 pieces of art and compositions, which were created by 178 artists from 37 countries. The part of this collection visitors can see in gallery courtyard.

The Gallery invites visitors to a guided tour „Panevėžys International Ceramic Symposiums: facts and amazing stories“ and during it opens the door to the ceramic collection storage. Also, in the Gallery the visitor can become not only an observer, but a creator. In the Ceramic Art Pavilion, it is offered to try a simulation pottery wheel. The gallery organizes educational creative programs for different age groups, where everyone can develop self-expression and create original work. The participants of these workshops use various techniques and tools – monotype, pastel drawing, watercolour. Ceramic programs are especially popular.

The Gallery is member of International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) since 2017. In 2021 Panevėžys Art Gallery has been awarded the first place in the category of museums, manors, castles and other visited objects in the study on the assessment of the attractiveness of Lithuanian tourist sites initiated by the National Tourism Development Agency “Lithuania Travel“.

„Balttour“ visitors at the Gallery stand will learn more about cultural activities, as well as receive gift cards, book tabs and badges with artwork images.
